Bob Eggington trained as a journalist on newspapers. He joined the BBC where he worked for 30 years. Jobs included Editor of the General News Service, Home News Editor, Managing Editor of Political Programmes, Editor of the Monitoring Service and Project Director responsible for launching and running the BBC News web site. It has won numerous awards, including several BAFTAs, Webbys, a BIMA, a British Press Award and a Prix Italia.

He has written extensively about the news business and the Internet for The Guardian, The Scotsman, The Industry Standard and other newspapers. He appears frequently on radio and television in the UK and abroad, commenting on developments in the digital media.
